ELIGIBLE WORKSHOPS AND SUMMER INSTITUTES
There are many online workshops and institutes for language instructors offered through different institutions and professional organizations such as the CARLA Institutes for Language Teachers.
Check with Jana Martin if you’re not sure if a workshop or institute that you’re interested in would qualify for this grant program.
This grant is intended to cover the cost of registration for workshops or institutes focused on language teaching and learning. The grant is not intended for conference registration or membership fees in professional organizations.
Applications will be reviewed by a committee as soon as possible after the application deadline. The committee will consider the following in reviewing applications and making decisions on awards:
- Need for support, with priority consideration given to applications from graduate students who do not have access to other sources of funding that they could use to participate in a workshop or institute for language instructors
- Potential for impact on the student’s teaching and professional development
- Plan for sharing experiences at the workshop with others
- Fit of the focus of the online workshop or institute with the purpose of the grant
- Overall quality of the application
