In this brownbag, we will first briefly share findings from a 2020 survey of UW-Madison language instructors on teaching languages remotely. The purpose of the survey, administered by WISLI and the Language Institute, with support from L&S Learning Support Services, was to inform instructional practice going forward, specifically, to assist the intensive summer language institutes and Van Hise departments prepare for offering language courses remotely this summer.
Then, panelists will share some of the pedagogical or technical challenges they have experienced in moving to remote teaching, and some of their strategies for addressing those challenges.
There will be ample time for questions and discussion.
