A damsel in distress? “Someday my prince will come?” Not in these fairy tales. Come learn about the world of Russian tales, where the dainty and passive images of heroines like Snow White and Cinderella are challenged by the likes of the warrior queen Maria Morevna and the priest’s daughter Vasilisa--a good shot with the rifle and very fond of vodka. We will listen to and discuss two short tales and explore what these stories reveal about Russian culture.
