Baltic Studies Summer Institute (BALSSI)
The Center for Russia, East Europe, and Central Asia (CREECA) and the Department of Scandinavian Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison will host the Baltic Studies Summer Institute (BALSSI) in the summer of 2009 (June 15-August 7, 2009). Elementary Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian language courses will be offered, as well as lectures (in English) on Baltic history and culture and a rich program of cultural events related to the Baltic countries. South Asia Summer Language Institute (SASLI)
The South Asia Summer Language Institute (SASLI) is a formal educational collaboration of the US Department of Education-designated Title VI National Resource Centers for South Asia in partnership with the South Asia Language Resource Center (SALRC). SASLI is dedicated to training students, faculty, and professionals in the languages of South Asia. First and second year instruction are offered in Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Tibetan, and Urdu. Southeast Asian Studies Summer Institute (SEASSI)
The Southeast Asian Studies Summer Institute (SEASSI) is an eight-week intensive language training program for undergraduates, graduate students and professionals. It has been held since 1984 and hosted for the last 6 years by UW-Madison. Instruction is offered for academic credit in nine languages at the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year levels: Burmese, Filipino, Hmong, Indonesian, Javanese, Khmer, Lao, Thai and Vietnamese. Scheduling of classes is contingent on sufficient enrollment, especially at the upper levels. Learn more >
Summer Arabic and Persian Immersion Program
An intensive eight week program designed to completely immerse students in an Arabic or Persian environment. The program includes many cultural activities such as films, lectures, and field trips to meeting points of the local Arabic and Persian communities.
