College for Kids

The Language Institute offers language workshops at College for Kids

College for Kids is a summer program of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Office of Education Outreach

In 2009 College for Kids will be offered from June 23-July 9.

The Language Institute presents:

A is for Apple, M is for Manzana, and я is for яблоко

Fifth graders from around Dane County explore their world through language!  Each day, they learn about a different language and culture.

Carolina Bailey, graduate student in the Department of Linguistics and the Doctoral Program in Second Language Acquisition, serves as facilitator and will teach Spanish and French. Guest presenters introduce students to diverse world languages:

  • Jacques Arceneux, French
  • Peggy Hager, Norwegian
  • Michelle Harrison, French
  • Suyeon Kim, Korean
  • Julie Larson-Guenette, German
  • Yang Liu, Chinese
  • Christele Schwerer, Dutch
  • Karen Scott, German
  • Jae Takeuchi, Japanese
