World Languages Day Award

The Wisconsin PK-16 Leadership Council recognized World Languages Day as a 2006 Program of Distinction at the Brittingham House on Thursday, June 14th, 2006.

The Wisconsin PK-16 Leadership Council initiated the award four years ago to recognize best practices within Wisconsin. The goal is to acknowledge programs that are consistent with the mission of the council, address the council’s focus on early childhood, high school senior year and transitions to post-secondary, and/or teacher quality, and have documentation of program outcomes.

In addition to the Programs of Distinction, the Council also recognized eight Promising Practices programs.

As coordinator of World Languages Day since its inauguration in 2002, Catherine Reiland offered a brief overview of the Language Institute's high school outreach program.

The Language Institute would like to thank all the the session presenters, volunteers, and high school educators who make World Languages Day possible. World Languages Day owes its success to the talents, energy, and expertise of these individuals.
