Thank you for considering giving a gift to the Language Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
The Language Institute promotes
collaboration for research, education and community outreach in languages, literatures and cultures.
Knowing more than one language is rapidly becoming critical in our state, in our country, and, of course, in our world. If you believe that multilingualism enriches understanding of our own and of other cultures, please consider a gift in support of the Institute's work.
For students on the UW-Madison campus, the Institute wants to help students realize the wealth of opportunities available through the 80+ languages taught in the 11 prominent language departments in the College of Letters and Science. For students and teachers from Wisconsin K-12 schools, the Language Institue organizes programs such as World Languages Day, World Cinema Day, and the UW-Madison Global Student Amabassadors Program. For business and the community, the Institute develops language courses for specialized audiences, and serves as a valuable resource for providing easier access to language faculty and staff for questions about languages and cultures, for translation and interpreting services, and to promote life-long learning opportunities. For scholarship and research, the Institute adminsters the Doctoral Program in Second Language Acquisition and many grant projects for developing instructional materials and new courses in many languages.
The Language Institute energetically seeks support through grants and gifts from foundations to help to support its mission, but it really could use your support. If you value the ideal of multilingualism and are able to help the Language Institute with its work, please use this site to make your donation.
